Welcome
to Wimberley Herbs!
Come Relax and Learn!
Sara combines her 20 year passion for herbs with a love
of
working the land in the Hill Country of Central Texas.
She uses her knowledge and experience of herbs and
native plants to practice sustainability and bring biodiversity
back to the area.
While you browse, you will find suggested plants for drought tolerant and
deer resistant landscapes along with tips for uses of herbs and plenty of
recipes.
The Rosemary Trail (made from materials on the property)
leads to a Desert Garden with a wide variety of agaves, yuccas,
and other desert plants tucked among the fossils.
A uniquely designed Herb Shed built of recycled materials
found in the local area. The cordwood facade was constructed by son, Stephen.
Rain barrels capture rainwater to provide moisture to the surrounding garden.
A state-of-the-art outdoor kitchen and backporch with invisible fountain provide
a beautiful and tranquil setting for Sara's Herb Growing
and Cooking Classes!
Display Gardens
Around the home, we have 1.5 acres of Display Gardens featuring Mediterranean,
Mexican, and Asian culinary herbs and a
large greenhouse for herb propagation utilizing organic methods of gardening.
Visitors are encouraged to wander around to see how mature plants appear in
the landscape.
The natural limestone and cedar logs that outline the culinary gardens were
harvested from the property. The gardens are watered with rainwater using
a drip irrigation system.
